China calls for advancing free trade talks with South Korea, Japan

During Saturday's summit, Moon and Xi also agreed to quickly normalise bilateral exchanges in all sectors, Yoon added, repeating what was said in the agreement announced last month when the two countries agreed to end a year-long standoff over the deployment of a US anti-missile system.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Chinese President Xi Jinping had a summit meeting in Da Nang, Vietnam on November 11.

The tensions triggered by North Korea's missile tests were not mentioned during the opening statements of Duterte and Moon.

In a speech to business leaders at the summit on Friday, Trump called on governments in the region to unite against Kim and "not be held hostage to a dictator's twisted fantasies of violent conquest and nuclear blackmail".

After months of Chinese protest and discussions, the countries' foreign ministries issued a joint statement on October 31, saying the countries will put their relationship back on the right track.

The leaders of South Korea and China on Saturday (11/11/2017) agreed on the need to manage the security situation on the Korean peninsula in a stable way.

Moon and Li are also scheduled to attend the ASEAN Plus Three summit on Tuesday for discussions on ways to improve their countries' relations with ASEAN. "We hope that the two sides can work together to put the two countries' ties on a normal track of development at an early date".

Abe and Xi smiled and nodded during the opening remarks of their own meeting, which Abe later described as frank, relaxed and friendly.

"At the end of the meeting, President Xi said this is a meeting that marks a fresh start of relations between Japan and China".

It's for this reason that the global community must pressure North Korea into talks as soon as possible, including through use of sanctions, Moon said Tuesday, per Reuters.

(STAND-UP) "But before that, a separate meeting between President Moon and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang here in Manila on the sidelines of the ASEAN-related summits will show whether the strongest steel is indeed forged in the hottest fire". They reaffirmed that their two countries have a great responsibility to ensure regional and global peace and prosperity.
