Two militants killed in Kashmir encounter

Two militants were killed in a gun battle with security forces after they attacked a police team in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Monday, police said. In the exchange of fire, one security personnel sustained injuries.

Police sources said the militants staged the attack in Rajwar area. The militants are heard telling Ahmad not to approach the police and also warn him against joining politics.

Police officials are trying to ascertain their identity and affiliation, The Hindu reported.

The militants fired upon a joint party of police and the army near Galganzer.

The ultras shot at special police officer Ranbir Singh, who was posted on duty near deputy commissioner's office, a police office official said.

"Many cordon and search operations have been conducted in Hajin area to trap him but he has managed to give slip to security forces so far", they said.
