If the 49ers can't get a win this week, it is hard to believe when their first win of the season would be, as only six games remain after tomorrow and each of them has their challenges.

The Giants have not fired a coach during the season since 1976 when Bill Arnsparger was let go after a 0-7 start and replaced by John McVay, who had more success as an executive who helped build the 49ers dynasty in the 1980s.

If and when that happens, rookie quarterback C.J.

In what was easily the best performance of his young career, Beathard took advantage of an opponent with as many injury issues and more problems as his own team in leading the 49ers to their first victory of the season.

Kyle Shanahan is running out of time to get his first win of the season, and with a relatively tough schedule down the road, expect Shanahan and the 49ers to do whatever they can to get the win. Shepard is hands-down the best wide receiver now available on this roster and he produced that way, putting together one of his better games of the season to date. San Francisco also got its first first down while holding a lead of the season on a 40-yard pass from Beathard to Louis Murphy in the third quarter. His 83-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was the best throw of his carer.

Carlos Hyde had a 28-yard run - and 15 yards were added at the end due to Giants safety Darian Thompson's personal foul at the end of the run. He had 17 carries for 98 yards.

The Killers Perform 'The Man' at MTV EMAs 2017
David Guetta closed the show with his new single, "Dirty, Sexy, Money", with guests French Montana, Charli XCX and Afrojack. U2, recipients of the global icon award on the night, performed "Get Out of Your Own Way" from Trafalgar Square.

Redblacks nowhere near good enough in loss to Roughriders
After all the early scoring in the first quarter, it took until late in the second for more points to be put on the board. Ottawa pulled to within 21-11 with Brett Maher's 22-yard field goal at 2:56 of the third.

Vontaze Burfict ejected for making contact with official
Burfict made contact with a runner out of bounds for his first personal foul and two plays later made contact with the officials. Given his long, long, looooooonnnnnnng history, it would be no surprise if he faces further punishment.

Down 10-6 late midway through the first half, Manning and the Giants pieced together a 10-play, 75-yard drive over 5:51. Goodwin and Eric Reid protested for the 49ers while Vernon was the only Giants player to do it.

-Shanahan will give the 49ers the entire week off.

-Left tackle Joe Staley made his return to the starting lineup after missing just one game with a broken eye socket.

Chances are, that will happen as early as the Niners' next game, which is November 26 against the Seattle Seahawks.

-Bradley Pinon, who averages almost six punts a game, did not punt until there were 5:46 remaining in the fourth quarter. His passer rating was a near-perfect 157.8. Beathard did not get enough air under his lob pass intended for Matt Breida, which enabled Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon to make the interception at the NY 25-yard line.
