Shanshan Feng shot a 1-over 73 in the swirling winds on Friday to take a one-shot lead after the third round of the Blue Bay LPGA tournament in Hainan, China. She managed to make seven birdies, including on three of her last five holes. She finished the four days with a 9-under 279 total.

Park, who at the beginning of the week became the first rookie in the LPGA Tour's history to ascend to No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings, is looking for her third win of the year.

"I finished first in China, so I actually claimed the world No. 1 in front of all the people at home", added Feng, who is from the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou and turned professional a decade ago. "I'm really happy about that, and I hope all the Chinese are going to be watching me and the Chinese can play golf".

Saturday will mark the final round of the 2017 LPGA Tour season for many, as only the top 72 and ties on the Race to the CME Globe standings get to play next week at the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Fla.

Feng was also her country's first victor on the LPGA Tour (Wegmans LPGA Championship in 2012).

Moriya, still winless on the LPGA, recorded her second runner-up finish of the season.

"I just want 2017 to keep going". "A never-ending 2017, that would be great".

All square after 12, Jutanugarn made a costly bogey to Feng's birdie and despite clawing back one shot at the next the margin remained one until the finish.

She told "I'm really, really excited and very proud of myself and I think it's special because I won this tournament to become world number one".
