The 21-year-old midfielder, on loan at Crystal Palace, was named man of the match on his senior England debut in Friday's goalless draw with reigning world champions Germany at Wembley after producing an eye-catching and composed performance in central midfield.

Despite being outplayed in the first half, England's youthful side arguably had the better of their opponents in the second 45 minutes, and could have even snatched victory had Jesse Lingard converted a glorious chance with the last kick of the game.

Ryan Giggs' post-match punditry following Ruben Loftus-Cheek's impressive England debut didn't go down well.

"At times it was hard for them to press us because of the composure we showed and the system we played, so I think it was a brilliant experience for our players".

'He's got all the attributes, the physicality, the touch and the finesse and when he runs with the ball he's got all the power, but I think he can do more. "I've seen him and he's better than Bakayoko for me".

The Blues meanwhile sent Loftus-Cheek on a season long loan to Crystal Palace in order to gain more experience and prove that he can succeed at the highest level.
