"He won't be available", Popovich said, per Jeff McDonals of My San Antonio.

Back on September 30, the Spurs announced they'd be holding Leonard out for the remainder of the preseason as he recovers from right quadriceps tendinopathy. Leonard has experienced further issues with his quads beyond what affected him in 2016-2017, which adds an extra layer of uncertainty to his situation.

Leonard has not practiced since training camp began but has been rehabbing at the Spurs' practice facility. He finished third in the MVP past year and is the current front runner for MVP, although it's obviously pending his health.

Leonard is the do-everything-star for the Spurs, who the team relies on immensely on both sides of the ball.

Leonard is coming off the best season of his career in which he averaged 25.5 points, 3.5 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game. He aggravated that sprain in Game 1 of the conference finals and sat out the rest of San Antonio's 4-0 series loss to the Golden State Warriors. The 26-year-old Leonard is known as a two-way player, winning the Defensive Player of the Year trophy twice. Especially for a Spurs team that is in the middle of an extremely competitive Western Conference.
