The loss ended LSU's 16-game winning streak on homecoming and the Tigers 49-game winning streak against non-conference opponents in Tiger Stadium is over.

LSU won its first two home games of the season over Chattanooga and Syracuse and added a neutral-site win in New Orleans over BYU, but the Tigers lost 37-7 on the road to Mississippi State.

Troy (4-1) raced to leads of 17-0 and 24-7 before Danny Etling's fourth-quarter touchdown passes to Russell Gage and Foster Moreau got LSU as close as a field goal with 1:59 left.

Troy's 10 successful third-down conversions were the most the Tigers allowed since Texas Tech in 2015.

At the start of the second half, Troy broke out for a 74-yard run to put the Trojans at the 1-yard line. Troy was forced into a fourth-and-goal, but Chunn scored put the Trojans up 17-0.

When Troy fumbled a couple plays later, LSU finally got on the board with a 7-yard touchdown from Myles Brennan to Foster Moreau. Troy would eventually stretch the lead to 24-7 on seven-yard touchdown run by Josh Anderson.
